  • Overview

    Responsible for providing detailed, accurate machining, fabrication and/or assembly cost estimates that will be submitted as formal quotes to the customer, per their requests.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Host bid / no bid process when necessary.
    • Review quotes to develop plan for completion.
    • Read and interpret customer requests, blueprints and parts lists.
    • Create raw material and outside services list per the customer requirements. Send out subcontractor RFQs for required raw materials and services.
    • Assist Purchasing Department with research and determine the most cost- effective sources for raw materials and outside service while meeting customer needs.
    • Assist Scheduler with creating a detailed estimate of: raw materials, manufacturing processes, cycle times, finishing scope, assembly scope, required coatings costs and any additional costs (NRE) associated with each customer quote.
    • Develop lead-time and total cost estimates for part/project.
    • Coordinate estimating activity across all functions including purchasing, quality, operations and management.
    • Develop quote notes that reduce our risks and to describe our deliverables.
    • Provide final quote to sales person, to be sent to customer.
    • Perform other duties and assist with specific projects as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
      • 5-7 years related professional experience in manufacturing environment in a similar role;
      • Demonstrated experience in accurately constructing manufacturing plans and estimating time required to perform the manufacturing operations with knowledge of CNC machines, set up times, run times, and assembly
      • Experience and knowledge of exotic metals and manufacturing processes in similar industry
      • Demonstrated ability to review blueprints, visualize the product in detail, create a mental picture of the manufacturing methods and steps required to produce the item, and estimate time required to prepare and perform each process
      • Strong math and trigonometry skills
      • Computer knowledge – Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Project, Smartsheet, JobBoss, estimating software, etc.
      • Attention to detail and accuracy
      • Ability to communicate with all levels inside and outside the organization. Must be able to successfully interact with all internal departments to fully understand needs for an accurate estimate/quote.
