Overview

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. Develop, implement, oversee, review, and update Environmental Health & Safety programs, reports, training, and procedures. Responsibility for two facilities.  Duties of EH&S as required for two sites – AMG and CTS in Mason, OH.

Responsibilities

  • Write, implement, review, and update EH&S programs, procedures, reports, and training as required by all federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Works closely with staff in engineering, human resources, legal, operations, quality and commercial
  • Identifies company safety training needs and develops and coordinates safety training programs. Tracks records of who has attended what training with human resources
  • Develops annual company safety and health goals.
  • Participates in new product/process reviews, including process hazard analyses, operator training, etc.
  • Supports corporate/plant engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards.
  • Supports plant personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Maintains corporate safety library (e.g., videos, regulations, reference manuals).
  • Promotes safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters and specific training programs. Reports out safety records and safety message of the month at monthly “all hands” meeting
  • Leads company occupational safety and health committee.
  • Develops and implements as necessary a hazard communication program and preparation of reports.
  • Reviews process-operating procedures/records and provides input for safety and health considerations.
  • Understands federal and state occupational safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur.
  • Interacts with employees daily to promote relationships, learn the tasks employees perform and be known as a resource to the employees in each facility.
  • Advises manufacturing plants and corporate staff of regulatory changes with which the plants must comply. Sufficient advance notice should be provided so that compliance on the effective date of new regulations is ensured.
  • Reviews plant safety committee meeting minutes and safety inspection reports and follows up as necessary.
  • Investigate injury/illness and noninjury incident reports, provides corrective action that eliminates repeat occurrences.

Qualifications

  • Education
  • Bachelor Degree in Occupational, Safety, and Health or related field preferred
  • Work experience
    • Minimum of 2 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Prior experience with OSHA regulations
  • Job specific attributes/skills
  • Reading – ability to read, analyze and interpret safety instructions
  • Computer knowledge – Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Attention to detail, organized, and accurate
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
    • Reasoning – ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations, utilizing critical thinking skills
